What is rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is the medical term for nose surgery, or, as many people colloquially call it, a “nose job.” Rhinoplasty is a type of plastic surgery where cartilage and bones in the nose are reshaped, removed, or reconstructed to create a more desirable nose shape.
If you are self-conscious about, unhappy with, or disappointed by the shape of your nose that you were born with, you may be a good rhinoplasty candidate. You may also be a good rhinoplasty candidate if you have been involved in an accident or suffered an injury that has altered the natural shape of your nose. Because rhinoplasty can have a dramatic effect on the appearance of your nose, electing to have this surgery is not a good decision for a person who isn’t passionate about pursing a change to their face. Furthermore, it’s important to have a positive frame of mind when pursuing a rhinoplasty surgery. Ideal candidates are positive individuals who realize that the change they’re making is entirely physical, and who don’t expect the surgery to alter the course of their life.
Like all surgeries, the best candidates are those that are in good health, as unhealthy individuals face a higher risk of suffering complications during surgery.
Consult a Professional
If you’re undecided about whether or not you should have rhinoplasty surgery, have questions about your surgery, or aren’t sure if you’re a good candidate, a consultation with a medical professional can help to get all your questions answered and to put your concerns out in the open.
